Whalie Awards Hat Trick?!

Hey all! The Sinners Circle has been nominated for a Whalie Award in the ‘Best Music Series’ category for the third year running! We’ve won it for the past two years, and are very proud to have done so.  If you think we’re still doing it right, feel free to pop over to Wailingcity.com and throw us (or whoever) a vote if you’re so inclined! Thank you!

And, the NEXT Sinner’s Circle will be Saturday, May 19 at the Bean and Leaf… full details coming soon!

Glad you found us.

Welcome to the new web home of the Sinner’s Circle, southeastern CT’s award-winning songwriter “performance in the round” series.

The Sinner’s Circle was started in spring of 2009 by four New London, CT-area band leaders/songwriters who decided to strip down and try their songs in an intimate, acoustic setting to see what sparks might fly: Hugh Birdsall (Reducers, Dogbite), Jim Carpenter (Hoolios), John Fries (John Fries & the Heat) and Ben Parent (the Rivergods). And fly they did; the show was a resounding success, with the musicians playing 5 or 6 rounds of original music to a joyfully engaged audience, followed by a couple of choice covers that everyone joined in on.

Soon more Circles were planned, incorporating other songwriters/musicians from the area. Since that first Circle, there have been more than 15 Circles around southeastern CT, a compilation CD of the first year’s season’s Circles, and a couple of New London’s Whalie awards (for “Best Music Series”).

Look around for information on upcoming Circles, as well as links to past artists who have played the Circle. Take a look at our poster gallery or check out some of the videos of past performers.  Better yet, come on out to a Circle and experience it for yourself.
